Downgraded English

People say that studying abroad will improve your English. Yes, its supposed to happen that way and it did happened before to me. But recently I just feels like my English is not going anywhere. Probably caused by me talking less English with people, reading less and less English books (who am I kidding, I don't even read books from other languages!). So you ask how the heck do I not talk English often? I'm in the UK for crying out loud!

The place I'm staying now had nothing to do with this. Maybe a little bit but does not affect greatly. People I hang out with? DEFINITELY!

Since I mostly hang out with Malaysians, the language that we speak is mainly Mandarin+English+some other language including Malay. That's what makes us Malaysian. Even our language have to be added with that Malaysian flavour.

Speaking wise, I can say that my English usually ends with lots of -la, -bah, -lo, -ah, you name it, I say it. We all Malaysians do. Sometimes even lost of words to express what I wanna say because we usually "translate" what we wanna say from our mother tongue. Then we'll go like "erm..erm...how do you say this?" and then ask other friends "what the English word for this ah?".

The worst part is my writing. I can speak and understand some vocabulary no problem but my spelling is like a high school student who never paid attention in English class. I usually just right click the word that have red squiggly lines beneath it if I I'm using Microsoft words. Sometimes I even have to google the word in order to check my spelling. That's how bad my spelling goes. I lost confidence in it now T.T even if I spelled something correct I have to double check it with my teacher - google!

If my mom know that my English had been downgraded, she's gonna kill me.

Now I wanna go makan and have my dinner. Gonna make myself a nice sandwich ^^ So I'll just stop here. Somethings just never gonna change...

About 1 hour to go!!

I got nothing to do, nothing to write, nothing to watch at the moment. Although I have notes in front of me that I have to study for my Friday test, I just wanna watch one of my favourite tv shows! I'm still waiting it to be downloaded using torrent because Megaupload's megamanager does not work on this laptop so I'll just use torrents from now on. Torrents are always so slow! already 84% still need about 1 hour to download...

I'll just talk something about my favourite show. It's called Ghost Whisperer and its about a woman who can talk to spirits, or what people usually called ghosts. Its actually not scary at all (apart from the opening song..that's a little scary). Melinda (played by Jeniffer Love Hewitt) helps the ghosts trapped between worlds wandering around resolve unfulfilled aspects of their former life. Some stories are quite touchy~ but some ghost are just evil and scary!

Well, that's probably about it. You have to watch it to find out whether its ur type of show. I have no idea why I like it. I just do. It's a pretty nice show to be honest~

And another thing, I passed my numeracy test!! WOOHOOO!!!! I don't have to re-sit the test! I'm so happy~~

I just wanna pass my test lah!

We had this Numeracy test yesterday where we had to do all sorts of calculation questions. Sounds normal for Pharmacy course? Yeah I think so...

But there's a catch....


We are NOT allowed to use calculators!!

and the passing mark is 70%!!!

Come on, its hard enough to do the calculations without calculators. We even have to finish 18 questions in 1 hour (technically its 50 minutes) and they are not 1 + 1 = ? type questions. Talk about racing with time.

We did had a mock test a couple of weeks before and I totally flunked it. I didn't had time to even finish. I know I know..too dependent on calculators. But that's what calculators are for. It helps us to do those multiply extract stuff to save time. Boy my math sucks without a calculator!

Now, I just wanna pass so don't have to re-sit the test!! >.<

Valentine's party for the singles and alone

I wonder why I am blogging today. I know I have 2 test and a presentation coming up tomorrow but somehow I just don't feel like studying at all. But I seriously hope that I won't fail the tests. I'll complain about the test later but now, let be talk about something fun.

Sunderland is a boring and tiny town (its a city but it looks like a town with nothing in it) Anyway, this year's valentine's day is somewhat different. A couple of friends decided to celebrate valentines in a KTV restaurant in Newcastle. So we all went down to Newcastle and had some fun doing what ppl do in KTVs...Singing, eating, drinking ( btw, we dont drink alcohol so we drink chinese tea and orange juice), and what else? taking pictures?

That's probably it.

I know..i know..we were hungry!

Most of the dishes served there are spicy like 8 out of 10 of them. And they don't have desserts!! What restaurant do not serve desserts? not even fruits!!

Ouh yeah! the alone part in the title does not mean that we live a sad and lonely life being single and all. Its just that there's 2 guys there have girlfriends but their girlfriends are in Malaysia or someplace else. So they are literally alone on valentine's day.

Pros and cons about owning a MAC

Wah, the title like wanna write what karangan like that. But i'm not that good at writing so just simply write what I wanna say. Its my blog anyway..its not assessed!

Pros:
1. Apple MACbook sounds so high class.
Its true. peple used to go like "Wah..Apple oh...So rich..." but now its not that rare anymore. and its not that expensive too. Some other brand laptops are more expensive lo with those very very large screen and very very good speed and graphic high-tech stuff. Its not like I wanna show off or something but I bought this apple because it comes with a 3 year warrenty. That's the main reason...part of it is coz it looks nice also la and I've always wanted to own an Apple ^^

2. Easy to use
Even if the MAC OS is totally different and sounds hard to use..turns out its not hard to use at all. It has many short cuts and spaces to do ur work on. Make it looks like u're not opening too many apps at one time. so I'm happy with it but still need some getting used to though~

3. can set timer to let laptop go to sleep
I dont know whether u can do this using other laptops but I think this is really nice since it saves energy and my laptop wont get overheated so easily and broke like last one.

4. can install 2 OS
they say Apple can do it but I still havnt got mine installed with an windows XP..still waiting...

Cons:
1. Lots of programms cannot install!
I used to have this programme where u can straight away download songs from it and listen to them. The programme is called sogou musicbox. It even shows the lyrics of the songs. there's a lot of song available but I cant use it because its only for windows. Now I donno where to find songs to listen to la except youtube.

Another programme is for torrent downloads called xunlei. The speed is superfast and can download stuff just like tat *click*. I dont know why its faster than any other downloaders and I really like it even if its in chinese and a lot of words I have no idea what are they.

Last but not least is Megaupload! Sure I can download using megaupload but then I can't use the download manager that allows user to pause and do multiple downloads. Even with a premium account its not that useful anymore. T.T

2. No anti-virus?
Bible told me that Apple itself is like anti-virus like that. very good protection. I dont know la..just listen to the comp pro lo. So my laptop now dont have any anti-virus. Hopefully I wont get virus. If not I donno how to fix la..

I think i'll just stop here since I dont really know what to write anymore and I have class in half an hour >.<

Why cannot post comments ah?

Today I was supposed to attend lectures but then I over slept so nevermind la. I havnt been to lectures for weeks anyway >.< wonder what I missed~ O.o probably a bunch load of stuff!!

Ok forget about me skipping lectures but then I was reading through amanda's blog and then I was thinking of leaving some comments for her. Since her bf is on TV and stuff. Its a BIG thing ya know~ not everyone can be on tv and amanda's right, we're used to it but we dont keep any newspapers talking about us....I mean...our club.

So I was gonna leave a comment by clicking on the comment button then "post a comment" something like that. Nothing came out! A little window was supposed to pop up and then u can write stuff in it. Now I am wondering whether there's something wrong with my comp or the blogger web is just sot sot la. One other possibility is they change a new system and I totally dont know how to use it?!

Everything new in 2009!

Since my laptop broke on January, my dad gave me the permission to buy a new one! I'm so happy about it~ not that my old lappie is lanci or anything but it is more than 2 years old. Anyway, look what I got!!

Apple Macbook!!

I'm so so happy~ it not only looks higtech, it is VERY hightech. Up until now I still dont really know how to use it. hahahaa >.< but at least I can use the internet and do some of my work. So complicated learning can wait.

Student life without internet is like hell! suddenly feel so lost and full of nothingness. Life is so sad back then..

Good thing I have my Nintendo DS lite with me! I bought it in the end of the year last year to congrats myself for doing such a good work on my first job~ Atleast I didnt quit! part of it is also an early Christmas present for myself. (OMG! sounds like i have no life at all..i'll probably end up an old woman alone with 27 cats T.T)

so it also consider as a new thing for 2009 ^^



I love my ds~ its a Pokemon limited edition console. I was thinking of buying the Pikachu yellow one but that is hard to buy and very expensive. Anyhow, I'm happy with mine ^^

I also upgraded my cellphone to an LG viewty~ Since its for free with my phone contract with Orange, why not! I was thinking of upgrading it to the Sony Ericsson 8megapix cellphone but that I'll need to pay extra..like 100+ pounds more? Its so not worth it~

A Samsung monolaser printer! I bought this because my old printer is starting to get a lil sot sot and the ink is so darn expensive. Cost me a fortune just to change the ink! Laser printer print much faster and dont need to change the toner so soon anyway (the description says it can print up to 800 pages, so lets wait and see~) It only print black colour but i'm ok with it. I use it to print notes and uni stuff, no need to high quality la..

That's about everything new in my life!

Lost forever..sob sob

After I came back to UK I received a call from my Mom one day. She say that my favourite cat (remember the siamese?) is lost!!

This is SO major!

I was like "what if he never come back?" "What if he got hurt?" "Will he starve?" so many questions gone through my mind.....until now, he still havnt come home.

So he's probably lost forever T.T

...or he found a better owner..if he did, i'm so gonna snatch him back after I go back to Malaysia!

Time to get back into the game!

I think its time to get back into blogging since i've been away for like what...4 months? There are a couple of reasons for not posting anything..

1. I was busy?
can anyone believe that I was actually busy this year? Amanda was right..2nd year is not a free year at all. I used to be like so care free all the time and do assignments last minutes but this is so not gonna happen this year..or next year! or the year after!! T.T assignments, test, reports, placements..argh!! so much to do in so little time...seems that way..
I still do skip couple of lectures reason being "rushing report", "preparing presentation la..tomorrow need to present"..and some other so called "used-to-it" reasons but actually I'm just taking a short leave for relaxation..cannot be too tense all the time la. Some of the reasons are REAL!
Anyway, I start doing my reports and assignments kinda early now..like a few day before hand in date. Ow I'm so proud of my hard working self. (tears~)

2. No laptop how to blog...
My old laptop broke on January (so hok la..New Year just arrive then laptop broke) Its like I lost in touch with the world. No internet, no movies, no music, NOTHING! so kasian la that week T.T but good thing I have my DS lite with me going through my down time. And never once in my life I've been so willing to do my assignments so much ahead from the hand in date..and in the library too!

3. Lost the link due to laptop broke?
This is just stupid..its my own blog!

4. Lazy
This is much more realistic. Sometimes I just dont know what to write and after sometime of thinking. I just gave up saying "Lazy to write la!"

5. I just forgot
After a few attemps of donno what to write I probably just...forgot

But now i'm back and this is probably the time to continue blogging. Hopefully I will stick to it from now on >.<
